Right out of my garage. Middle of the day. Lisa was home. It happened last Friday, and it could have been a lot worse I suppose. I’m just glad they didn’t try to enter the house with Lisa there alone. Anyway, I guess from now on the garage stays closed unless we’re driving in or out of it.

Time for a post on my own joint site with Josh. As he was saying below, we had a great time and were very, very busy. 1,400 miles on the rental if you can believe that. As the title of my post suggests, I am still grateful for a few more weeks off before I need to be up at school setting my room up again. I’ll do that early August before our workshops start.

Lisa and I just spent an awesome week in Alaska on vacation. It was truly amazing and we packed in at least 2.5 weeks worth of activities. More details and pics coming soon…

I’ve been taking Toprol XL (metoprolol 25mg twice a day) for the past several years to lower my heart rate. I don’t have high blood pressure or any serious heart problem, but my pulse has always been high and my cardiologist thought it was time to control the tachycardia. However, since I’ve been on it I have been fighting side effects. Most people don’t have any, but it mainly gave me anxiety, breathing problems, and random chest pains. In general, I would just feel crummy alot of the time.
Yesterday my doc finally agreed to switch me to something else, and so I started my first 5mg dose of Bystolic (nebivolol). It is supposed to be well tolerated with a better side-effect profile than Toprol, so I hope it works better for me!

So we got back last night from la and my window wouldn’t roll up. now this is what it looks like. I guess now I get to follow my own instructions from a few years ago when I changed the regulator on the driver’s side.

OK so we were lucky enough to score some free Astros tickets from Cindy at my workplace and went to see them lose to the Cardinals on Tuesday. Before the game even started, somehow I lost my cell phone in between batting practice and getting something to eat. We called it as soon as we realized, but someone had already taken the battery out, so I had to call and cancel it.
Luckily, I found a cell (the same model as mine) on Craigslist here in Houston for only $25! Apparently this phone belonged to “Big Nate” and has a motto of “Get Money. Stay True.” printed on the inside. Awesome! I’m just happy I was able to get a temporary replacement quickly and for such a good price. I hate being without a phone.

Monday at last, and our time in Barcelona is at an end. Today is a really long day with the flights home. We weren’t sure if we would be able to make our connection in Paris, especially with only a 50 minute layover at Charles De Gaulle, but we did make it, thanks to some Air France employees that carted us to where we needed to go!
